Scripting and Workflow Consultant
Solicitors Own Software (www.soslegal.co.uk) is an established, dynamic IT company based in Bath. Due to the increasing demand for our software, SOS Connect, we now have an exciting opportunity to join our team of scripting consultants.
As a scripting consultant you will liaise with the client regarding their proposed workflow and case management application, produce documentation to reflect the workflows as defined, and write the scripted application using our scripting tools. This varied and interesting role also involves implementation and delivering end user training.
Ideally you will have previous experience working in a law firm, or for a legal system supplier, with existing knowledge of a case management system such as Solcase/Visualfiles, Videss, Aim etc. Full training will be given and consideration made for applicants with relevant experience from outside the legal industry.
Travelling throughout the UK must be seen as an essential part of this position however the day to day scripting role could be considered as home based after an initial training period at our offices.

VB.Net Developer
We have the opportunity for an experienced VB.Net Developer to join our team here in Bath. This position involves Working as part of the Development Team developing the SOS suite of Software, which is currently SOS Connect and SOS Practice Manager while assisting the Software Testers in ensuring SOS releases error-free software for installation to clients.
The Main Duties of this position are :
• Coding (programming) of new features/enhancements according to specifications
• Coding of bug fix’s as defined by the software testers
• Coding of data conversion utilities
• Providing backup and advice to support and training teams
• Assist in the investigation of customer issues
• Assist testers and other members of SOS in the production of documentation
Responsibilities:
Produce quality code, that delivers on spec and within time constraints.
Comment and Document code to a sufficient level.
Skills required:
Essential:
Demonstrable experience of coding in C# and VB.NET programming languages working in Visual Studio 2008.
Experience of programming with ADO.NET.
Extensive knowledge of best practice in working with Microsoft .Net framework version 2.0 / 3.0 / 3.5 including a good understanding of generics, COM, object code obfuscation, NGEN, and MSI projects.
Experience of Microsoft Office 2003 (Word, Excel, Outlook & Access).
Ability to work both unsupervised on individual projects and also as part of the development team.
Demonstrable knowledge of the principles of source code control systems.
Desirable:
Experience of using SQL Server at the database administrator level.
Knowledge of SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
Knowledge of financial systems or legal accounts.
Experience of Progress Software.
This is a full time office based role, Normal Office Hours are 9.00am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
SOS CONNECT Scripting Support Analyst
To support scripted applications for SOS clients using the Connect package via telephone, remote pc access and email. In the main this will involve supporting legal case management/matter management applications across a spectrum of work types that have been tailored to the individual client’s requirements.
Main duties:
Providing telephone/email support on Connect, along with the other SOS systems if necessary.
Identifying changes which may be chargeable and liaising with Account Manager to implement charging regime for any changes made.
Scripting changes to the Firm’s scripts based on clients requirements, communicating these changes and maintaining a record of modifications.
Providing support to firms’ in house scripters on scripting and best practice on system development.
Dealing with escalated front line support calls which may require scripting modifications to standard SOS based system scripts.
Essential Requirements:
Experience of scripting matter management/case management systems
Desirable
Experience of working with SOS Connect or other Legal Case Management software
Experience of working with SOS Practice Manager or other Legal Practice Management software
Knowledge of VB, VBA, .Net and/or Sql query
Personal Skills
Excellent communication skills (active listening and clear, articulate verbal and written ability)
Problem solving skills in a case management environment
A confident and assertive individual who will be able to appreciate the needs of our customers whilst balancing the pressure of a high volume call environment
The position of SOS Connect Scripting Support Analyst is based in Bath. Office hours are Monday to Friday - 9.00 am to 5.30 pm (one hour lunch break 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm).
SOS Practice Manager Application Support Analyst
Department Info
The SOS Support Department is responsible for the provision of support to all SOS customers.
The Support Department provides remote helpdesk support to customers purchasing the SOS range of products including SOS Practice Manager, Connect and the Visual Files Case Management products.
Role Summary
Taking and resolving queries that arrive via telephone and email, dealing mainly with cashiers, legal accounting staff and system administrators.
Ensuring that clients are kept up to date with the progress of their call and maintaining a full call history in our in-house Support system.
Being able to deal with questions on system operation and best practice as well as resolving system problems with control accounts/bank reconciliations/record errors.
Essential Requirements
• Experience of working in a front line legal accounts environment or commercial experience in financial accounts.
• Fully conversant with double entry book-keeping
• Good IT skills – Knowledge of Microsoft software
Desirable
• Production of accounts to trial balance level
• Experience of working with SOS Practice Manager or other Legal Practice Management software
• Knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts Rules
• Experience of working with SOS Connect or other Legal Case Management software
Personal Skills
